The Gallatin River Task Force is teaming up with the Gallatin Watershed Council for the annual Gallatin River Cleanup! The Gallatin River Cleanup is a great opportunity to work together as a community to clean our beautiful Gallatin after the busy summer season on the river.
WHEN: Friday September 9 - Sunday September 11
WHERE: Gallatin Canyon (Spanish Creek to YNP boundary) and Big Sky (map of river segments). Volunteers will be assigned where to clean and notified prior to September 9.
BEFORE THE CLEANUP: Join us for a kickoff barbecue at the River Pavilion in Big Sky Community Park on Thursday September 8, 5-7 pm! Get free food and supplies for the cleanup!
Trash drop-off: Republic Services will be providing a dumpster located in Big Sky Community Park.
WHAT TO BRING:
- Work gloves. We will provide rubber gloves, but if you prefer to bring your own gloves, feel free!
- Sunscreen and insect repellent
- Water and snacks
WHAT TO WEAR:
- Closed-toe shoes
- Weather appropriate clothing with high visibility, or a reflective vest if you have one
- Long pants that you don't mind getting wet or dirty
Trash bags, buckets, rubber gloves, and a limited number of reflective vests will be provided by the Task Force.
You can sign up INDIVIDUALLY or as a TEAM. For team sign-ups, a team leader will be responsible for making sure team members sign their waivers and for bringing all team trash to the dumpster at the community park.
An awesome PRIZE will be awarded to the person who finds the most unique trash item!
