Description

Do you have a passion for the old west? The legacy of homesteaders in Montana? The history of Big Sky and what was here before the ski runs and resorts?  Are you fascinated with the stories of miners, ranchers, and the westward expansion in the late 19th century?  If so, the Big Sky Community Organization offers a rewarding way to step back in time and share the early adventures of Big Sky homesteaders!  Every summer a very special place in Big Sky is open to the public, The Historic Crail Ranch Homestead Museum.  This one-acre gem is home to the oldest structures in Big Sky, a wealth of historical artifacts, beautiful gardens cultivated by Grow Wild, and a public picnic area.  The cabins, which house the historic museum artifacts, are open to the public from the end of June through September and we are looking for some passionate history lovers to volunteer as Docents.  If this sounds like the perfect way for you to give 10 to 12 hours a summer to the Big Sky Community, please let us know by completing the volunteer application.  We’ll host various Docent training opportunities, and we would love to include you in our next session.

Please complete our Volunteer Application  or email crailranch@bsco.org
